Study on Shark attacks

A study that has been going on for 54 years finally gets there answers. The study is about shark attacks, it says that people are most likely to be attacked on Sundays. If they’re wearing white or black wet suits it increases there change of being attacked swell because sharks are able to tell the contrast. The scientists who are from the University of Florida has been doing there study in Voluisa County between 1956 and 2008. Most of the people that were attacked during that period were 90 percent male, 77 percent were between the ages of 11 and 30, 98 percent where White and that 61 percent of those were surfers. Also it is more likely if you are deeper than six feet of water and it is a new moon. Splashing and making lots of commotion and having lots of people in the water can provoke a shark attack as well.

In my opinion this seems like a very ridiculous observation/ study because of some of their stats. Like new moon? How can a new moon affect your chances of being attacked by a shark? But I also believe that this study has a lot of truth to it and it can be very helpful. For people who surfer and but themselves in danger of being attacked now know some precautions that they can use so they won’t be attacked. Like instead of wearing a black or white suit you can wear a different color such as green or yellow. This study is helpful to those who value there life and don’t want to be attacked by a shark. Since this study has been going on for a long time I believe that the stats and reasons told to us make sense because they have had to put a lot of thought into this for 54 years.

My opinion is that this is a very useful study and can help a lot of surfers and should be looked at and reviewed by any surfer out there. It’s a very informational and useful read.
